This week Aion celebrated another milestone. This time around the game celebrated its first anniversary as a free MMORPG. To kick off the celebration, the game announced that there will be events galore in game for all players. Aion, the free MMORPG from NCSoft and Gameforge, have released Update 3.5 which includes a bevvy of additional content. The new content comes in the form of new high level dungeons, Tiamat's Fortress and Tiamat's Hideout. Aion, the fantasy free to play MMORPG from NCSoft, wants you to start getting excited about the games upcoming update 3.0. With this update the game will add two new high level areas for players above level 55 to find all new adventures and quests as they make their push to level 60. Aion, the fantasy free to play MMORPG from NCSoft, only recently went free to play in both Europe and North America. It is always nice to see titles that were once pay to play switch over to the free to play model. Aion has announced that they will be following up their free to play launch in Europe later this month with the free to play launch in North America later this spring. NCSoft made the announcement in conjunction with the announcement that Aion will be getting a new name Aion Ascension and also be adding the 3.0 content update that will include new zones, and increase to the level cap, mounts, hous... more.

NCSoft has announced that they have partnered with Gameforge in Europe to bring European players Aion free of subscriptions in February 2012. The North American version will remain subscription based, but for how long is yet to be known.
